What is Gold Filled?
Gold filled jewellery is the closest you’ll find to the quality, durability and beauty of solid gold jewellery.
Our gold filled materials are made by heat and pressure bonding of 5% of solid gold to a brass base. This process allows for gold filled pieces to contain a thick coating and high volume of solid gold compared to gold plated/gold vermeil jewellery. As a result, gold filled pieces present the advantage of being highly resistant to tarnishing, scratching, or fading.
Thanks to this process, gold filled jewellery is tarnish resistant, hypoallergenic and water resistant. However, it is important to keep in mind that gold filled jewellery may still discolour or tarnish if it isn’t cared for properly. Similarly, humidity, sweat, chlorine, chemicals or wear and tear can reduce the lifespan of your gold-filled piece.
